The aim of the seminar is to convey to participants a good general understanding of all aspects of the EURATOM Treaty, in particular of chapter VII on Nuclear Safeguards in the EU, and to familiarize them with the legislative framework for implementing EURATOM Nuclear Safeguards.
At the end of the course, participants will:
- have a good general understanding of the EURATOM Treaty and in particular its safeguards provisions
- have a very good understanding of the EURATOM Regulation 302/2005 and its requirements for accountancy and reporting, including practical applications understand the modalities for the cooperation between the EU and the IAEA in the context of safeguards inspections
- be aware of the EURATOM requirements and consequently expectations towards the operators.
A maximum of 30 participants is envisaged. The organisers give selection priority to Member State representatives and nuclear operators involved in nuclear safeguards in Europe. Other interested parties may be admitted depending on the availability of places. Ideally participants should already have some basic knowledge of nuclear safeguards.
