The Leidos Engineering Solutions Business Unit has an immediate need for a Nonproliferation Analyst to provide on-site programmatic support to the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development (DNN R&D). This is a full-time, on-site position providing program and management support in the area of nonproliferation research and development (R&D).
The mission of the DNN R&D program is to support U.S. national and nuclear security objectives in reducing global nuclear security threats through the innovation of unilateral and multi-lateral technical capabilities to detect, identify, and characterize: 1) foreign nuclear weapons programs, 2) illicit diversion of special nuclear materials, and 3) global nuclear detonations. To this end, technology development efforts supporting this mission include not only meeting U.S.-only nuclear security requirements but also multi-lateral nuclear treaty verification requirements.
The successful candidate must understand and be familiar with nonproliferation topics, to include treaties (e.g., the NPT, CTBT), institutions (e.g., IAEA, CTBTO) and practices (safeguards, monitoring, and verification). The successful candidate will also possess a general awareness and understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle and of nuclear weapons technology, in order to support the office’s mission of developing technologies for detecting foreign nuclear weapons development, for detecting nuclear detonations, and for supporting monitoring and compliance with arms control treaties.
This position is also responsible for directing and overseeing the work of two of the on-site technical support contractors.
The Senior Nonproliferation Analyst position is located on-site at the L’Enfant Plaza building in Washington, D.C.
